Boxster Intake and Radiator Grille Installation Videos

Tracking down the startup stumble and raw fuel smell on Project 928! In Part 10, we are diving back into our cold and warm start idle issues. The engine has been acting like it's getting a massive slug of fuel right at startup, and thanks to some tips from the Rennlist and Pelican communities, we decided to take a closer look at our fuel pressure dampers and regulators. We originally tested one that held vacuum just fine, but today we pulled the elbow off the second damper to hook up our vacuum pump and got a huge surprise: liquid fuel leaked directly onto our fingers! This confirms a ruptured diaphragm is dumping raw fuel straight into the vacuum system, throwing off the computer's base map until it can adjust. Upgrading the exterior lighting and fixing more auction car surprises on Project 928! When we received this car, it had a hole punched entirely through the front glass fog light (along with cracked sliders and adjusters) and rear taillights that were stress-cracked all the way through the plastic. After running some temporary PPF over them to keep the moisture out, it's finally time to install permanent replacements. In this episode, we walk you through the process of removing and replacing the front fog lights using some excellent condition replacements we sourced from eBay and a fellow Rennlister. We show you how to handle the halogen bulbs, route the grounds, and secure the assemblies. Then, we move to the rear to install a brand-new taillight from Rose Passion Porsche—a simple 7mm nut removal that completely transforms the look of the rear end. We also confirm that our 1400 RPM high idle issue is officially cured, and we lay out our plans to tackle a suspect fuel pressure damper in the next episode. The moment of truth is here for Project 928! After discovering massive vacuum leaks and a failing throttle position sensor, we are finally dropping the resealed intake manifold back onto the V8. In Part 8, we share a clever DIY hack for floating the intake to make those frustrating blind connections, walk through installing brand-new fuel injectors, and button up the fuel rails for a leak test. After replacing multiple sensors, spark plugs, and intake gaskets, we prime the fuel pump and go for the first start. Will the car finally drop out of its 1,400 RPM limp mode and hold a steady idle? Welcome to Part 7 of Project 928! With the intake manifold finally out of the way, we take a closer look at the components underneath—and discover major discrepancies between the Bring a Trailer auction receipts and reality. We investigate parts that were supposedly replaced years ago but are nowhere to be found, test the suspiciously original-looking Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), and prep the intake for reinstallation. But finding these sketchy records leaves us with a massive decision: do we trust the 2020 timing belt receipt included with the car, or do we tear the front of the engine down and replace it just for peace of mind? What would you do in our situation? Let us know in the comments below! If you enjoyed the video, please hit that LIKE button and SUBSCRIBE to the channel so you don't miss Part 8!

Welcome back to Part 6 of Project 928! We are still hunting down the cause of our persistent rough idle and hesitation. After swapping the MAP and TEMP2 sensors with only mild improvement, a carb cleaner test revealed we have unmetered air slipping in right under the intake manifold. In this episode, we tear into the top end of the V8 to pull the intake. We walk you through the process of clearing the airbox and MAF, safely disconnecting the fuel injector rails, marking our vacuum lines, and wrestling with the notoriously tight TPS and idle control valve connections. Once the intake was finally out of the way, we found exactly what we were looking for: a massive split in the idle control valve tube. Based on the dirt, this thing has been wide open and sucking unmetered air for a long time! We also took the opportunity to clean up the notoriously difficult engine grounds at the back of the block and evaluate our original single-pintle injectors (spoiler: we're calling Roger at 928sRus for a 4-hole upgrade). THE REVEAL: Finding the massive vacuum leak Testing the flappy valve and TPS sensor Do you think this split idle control valve tube is the root cause of all our running issues? In Part 5, we are investigating the lumpy idle and 1,400 RPM fail-safe mode on our Bring a Trailer 1989 Porsche 928 S4. The seller claimed this car was ready to drive anywhere, but we found a dead Temp 2 sensor and an open loop reading on the mass airflow sensor (MAF). Watch as Eric tests the resistance on the sensors, inspects the wiring harness, and shares a few quick updates on the dyed black console, fixed rear headliner, and new rear hatch parts from Roger at 928s R US. Video Highlights: Testing the Temp 2 sensor with a multimeter Inspecting the MAF wiring harness and connector Reading ohms between pins 1 & 4 and 2 & 4 on the MAF sensor Updates on the console color match, headliner repair, and rear hatch latch Let us know your thoughts and advice in the comments below! 🛒 SHOP AT radiatorgrillestore.com #Porsche928 #PorscheRestoration #BringATrailer #RadiatorGrilleStore #ProjectCar

Welcome back to Part 3 of fixing up our Bring-A-Trailer 1989 Porsche 928 S4! In this episode, we take a break from electrical issues to tackle some much-needed interior restoration. First, we fix a mismatched maroon center console using black leather balm—and the results turned out way better than expected while keeping that classic original patina. Next, we address the warped rear sun visor headliner panel mentioned in the auction using hot towels, a clothing steamer, and heavy weights to straighten out the board. What we cover in this video: Cleaning and prepping leather using alcohol Applying leather balm with a brush and swirling technique Steaming and reshaping warped interior fiberboard Covering up old accessory mounting holes in the dash leather 📺 Subscribe to follow along and see how these interior repairs turned out in the next video! 🛒 SHOP AT radiatorgrillestore.com #Porsche928 #928S4 #BringATrailer #PorscheRestoration #ProjectCar #RadiatorGrilleStore
